The story
Liberty City Stories is set in 1998, three years before the events of GTA III. You follow Toni Cipriani, enforcer for the Leone family, through a Liberty City you recognise but that has not yet broken apart.
Back from hiding after a sanctioned hit, Toni resumes his work for the Leones and carves out a place in a city torn apart by family warfare. The story sheds light on the origins of characters you cross paths with in GTA III.
Released first on PSP, the game proved a full 3D GTA could fit in your pocket, before returning on PS2, then on mobile and through PlayStation Classics.

The simplest route is the mobile version (iOS, Android) or the PS2 Classic on the PlayStation Store, playable on PS4 and PS5. PSP UMD discs and PS2 discs are available second-hand.
