Pre-order GTA 6 on PS5: pre-orders are open now

GTA 6 releases November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X. If you're on PlayStation, here's what you need to know to pre-order at the right time, at the right price, and without any surprises.

Pre-order status

Boxed pre-orders for GTA 6 PS5 are paused at several retailers, including Amazon.fr, since July 27, 2026 (stock status). Digital pre-orders, on the other hand, remain open without interruption on the PlayStation Store.

What to do now:

• Head to the PlayStation Store: the GTA 6 PS5 listing is live for digital pre-order
• No allocation to wait for, no stock to run out of on digital
• Available November 19, pre-load opens November 12
• Boxed copies remain paused at several retailers; while waiting for restock, the DualSense controller is available on Amazon.fr

PS5 Standard or PS5 Pro for GTA 6?

GTA 6 will run on both PS5 models. Here's the honest breakdown:

• PS5 Standard (around $499): dynamic 4K, 60 fps, full DualSense haptics. A complete experience for the vast majority of players.
• PS5 Pro (around $699): enhanced 4K rendering via Sony's PSSR AI upscaling, potentially more stable 60 fps or a 120 fps mode depending on how Rockstar optimizes the patch.

For most players, the standard PS5 delivers everything GTA 6 has to offer. The Pro is worth it if you already own a 4K 120Hz display and want to push the visual ceiling.

What GTA 6 does on PS5

Rockstar has confirmed GTA 6 will leverage PS5's hardware to the fullest:

• DualSense haptic feedback: you feel impacts, surface textures, tire grip on wet asphalt. A dimension of immersion that doesn't exist on old-gen.
• Adaptive triggers L2/R2: variable resistance depending on weapon type and vehicle. A rifle vs. a shotgun won't feel the same.
• Ultra-fast SSD: GTA Online load times cut dramatically compared to PS4. No more two-minute loading screens.
• Tempest 3D Audio: works with Pulse headsets and any USB/3.5mm headset set to 3D audio mode in PS5 settings.
• Ray tracing: confirmed in trailers. Especially visible on Vice City's nighttime reflections on wet streets and glass facades.

GTA Online on PS5: PlayStation Plus required?

GTA Online will be included with GTA 6 on PS5. Based on GTA 5's model, a PlayStation Plus subscription will likely be required for online multiplayer. Rockstar has not confirmed the exact terms for GTA 6 yet.
