GTA 6: two editions, one price, pre-orders are open

Done. On June 24, 2026, Rockstar put the numbers on the table. Standard at 79.99 EUR, Ultimate at 99.99 EUR. Digital pre-orders have been open since June 25, 2026, on official stores. The boxed line has been closed at several retailers, including Amazon, since July 27 (stock status): check availability before buying.

Two editions, not three

Forget the usual Standard / Deluxe / Collector structure. Rockstar goes direct: two digital editions only, Standard and Ultimate. No physical collector edition announced at launch. The physical version exists, but it is a code in the box: a retail box containing a download code, no Blu-ray disc.

If you want to play on day one without waiting on delivery, digital is the only reliable option. If you want a box on the shelf, the code in the box is available at select retailers including Amazon.

How Many Preorders Has GTA 6 Already Sold?

Sensor Tower, an analytics firm that tracks digital game sales, estimates GTA 6 had crossed 4.3 million preorders by August 18, 2026, worth roughly $429 million in combined revenue. Take-Two has not confirmed an official number: Strauss Zelnick called preorder demand "unprecedented" without putting a figure on it, according to reporting relayed by rockstarmag.fr.

The opening week alone, starting June 25, 2026, is estimated to have generated around $260 million in global digital spending, according to a separate analysis from Newzoo.

The number that matters for your edition choice: 89% of preorders are for the Ultimate, against 11% for Standard. The table above breaks down what that $20 gap buys.

The Vintage Vice City Pack, free with any pre-order

Available for all editions (Standard or Ultimate) purchased before November 20, 2026. Not exclusive to Ultimate. Everyone who pre-orders before release gets it.

Preload November 12, release November 19

Digital preload opens November 12, 2026, one week before release. Seven days for the file to land on your console, ready to play at midnight on the 19th. On PS5 and Xbox Series X, preload is available immediately after purchasing a digital edition or a code.

Release remains November 19, 2026, simultaneous on PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S. PC confirmed for post-launch, no date.

Where to pre-order

Digital pre-orders are open on the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and Rockstar Store. Several retail partners, Amazon, GameStop and GAME among them, have had the boxed line closed since July 27; it reopens in waves as allocation frees up.

On Amazon, once the boxed line is open again: no charge before shipment, price protection if the price drops before delivery. For the code in the box, the box arrives on the 19th. For digital, you click at midnight.
