GTA 6 soundtrack and radio in Vice City

GTA has had a car radio since 1997. Vice City's isn't on the air yet, so here's what the trailers let slip and what's still unconfirmed.

In GTA, you pick the station and a fictional DJ picks the songs. The series has worked that way since the first game in 1997: you get in a car, turn on the radio and let someone else set the pace of the drive.

No GTA 6 station has been announced yet. Even so, on September 15, 2026, about ten artists posted visuals hinting at a place on the soundtrack, and Rockstar has confirmed none of it.

Travis Scott, Keith Richards and the GTA 6 visuals of September 15

On the evening of September 15, 2026 (Paris time), about ten artists posted new GTA VI-style visuals at the same time, all on Instagram except Morgan Wallen, who posted on X. Rockstar hasn't reposted any of them on its own accounts.

VICE, NME, ComicBook, Rockstar Actu and Journal du Geek name the same artists: Travis Scott, Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones, Future (via the account of his label, Freebandz), Metro Boomin, Yung Lean, Morgan Wallen, Rauw Alejandro, PinkPantheress, Fred again.. and Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso. Some outlets count only eight or nine.

Between them, the artists posted six visuals:

Travis Scott tagged Rockstar Games in his Instagram post. His caption opens with "Phase 1," announces "NOW ITS TIME" and includes the line "MY RETURN TO GAME." Further down comes a string of letters, "J… O. H," then "to be continued."

ComicBook and Journal du Geek read those letters as Jack of Hearts, the strip club glimpsed in a GTA 6 trailer. NME reports the same theory, which it credits to many fans. Neither Travis Scott nor Rockstar has confirmed it.

"Phase 1" and "to be continued" suggest more announcements to come, with no date attached. Nothing yet tells us whether these artists will end up on a radio station, in a mission or somewhere else.

What the trailers reveal about the music

Trailer 1 opens with Tom Petty's "Love Is a Long Road," which lays a melancholy, all-American mood over the first shots of Vice City. Rockstar cut Trailer 2 to the Pointer Sisters' "Hot Together," a more upbeat track that runs under the action scenes and the shots of Jason and Lucia as a pair. Both songs are identified in the official trailers, and both are editing choices. Rockstar hasn't announced either one as part of an in-game station or the final soundtrack, so until Rockstar Newswire addresses the point, we treat them as trailer picks, not in-game confirmations.

Across 15 years of Rockstar trailers, the song behind a reveal hasn't necessarily made the final cut, and the finished games have shipped with tracks no trailer ever hinted at. In the GTA 6 trailers, sound does as much to define Vice City as the evening light or the film grain. None of it got there by accident.

The August 27 Extended Look confirmed the first licensed artist for GTA 6's soundtrack. Phil Collins' "Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)" plays over an elevator scene in the demo, a nod to his cameo in GTA Vice City Stories (2006), where he played himself. According to the gaming press, the Extended Look references Phil Collins in two separate moments. The demo also features other tracks, including songs by Sexyy Red and Depeche Mode. As with Trailers 1 and 2, nothing indicates yet whether they're one-off editing choices or songs headed for a radio station in the finished game. Collins stands apart: a callback to Vice City Stories is more than a song picked to score a demo.

GTA's radio legacy

Radio has been part of GTA since the first game in 1997: several stations, each with its own genre and often its own DJ. GTA Vice City went further, with a soundtrack built as an all-out tribute to the 1980s. GTA V, released in 2013, carried 17 radio stations, music and satirical talk shows combined, and that number is still the benchmark for sizing up a GTA lineup.

The stations are there to give every part of the map its own sound and to keep the ride from turning into a loading screen in disguise. This new Vice City inherits that tradition, and no station count has leaked yet. The series' history makes a deep lineup a reasonable bet, but anyone quoting a number today is guessing.

What's still unconfirmed

As of today, nothing confirms:

Phil Collins aside, Rockstar has said nothing about the game's music, not even after September 15: no Newswire post, no @RockstarGames announcement, no track list. The lists making the rounds on forums cite no source. We'll update this page as soon as there's an official announcement.

Getting your audio ready for November 19

The rest of Vice City's sound will have to wait for the game itself. Until then, get the headset right: one that can tell ambient chatter from a club bass line leaking out of a bar door. The GTA 6 gaming setup guide breaks down the headsets we recommend for that kind of detail.

NME reports the same theory and credits it to many fans. Rockstar hasn't reposted the visual or commented on any of it.
