GTA 6 and GTA+: does the subscription get you the game

GTA+ already exists, built around GTA Online. What it actually covers, why it probably won't include GTA 6, and how to avoid getting billed after a free trial.

Here's the answer up front, since it's short: nothing suggests GTA+ will get you into GTA 6.

The one-line answer, in full

Rockstar hasn't made any announcement linking GTA+ to GTA 6, and the pattern across the industry points the same way: a major release essentially never gets folded into a publisher subscription on its own launch day. Anyone hoping to play GTA 6 through GTA+ instead of buying it outright should plan on buying it.

What GTA+ actually is

GTA+ is Rockstar's monthly subscription built around GTA Online, the multiplayer mode that ships with GTA V. It grants periodic perks: bonus in-game cash, vehicles, discounts, and rotating content inside GTA Online specifically. It isn't a game-catalog subscription: it doesn't unlock any Rockstar title on its own. It enriches an experience you already need to own the base game to reach.

Why a publisher subscription almost never includes a game at launch

A major new release earns most of its lifetime revenue in its first few weeks on sale. Folding it into a subscription for free on day one would give away a meaningful share of that. The rare exceptions tend to be older titles added to a catalog long after their initial sales window has already passed, not new releases.

GTA+, PS Plus, Game Pass: three different things

It's easy to lump these together since they're all monthly subscriptions tied to games, but they cover different territory. GTA+ is Rockstar's own, scoped narrowly to GTA Online perks. PlayStation Plus is Sony's platform subscription, with a games catalog that varies by tier. Xbox Game Pass is Microsoft's equivalent, covering Xbox and PC titles depending on the plan. As of this writing, none of the three has confirmed GTA 6 as part of what it includes, and each would be a separate announcement if it happened.

The auto-renewal trap

Checking your next billing date

A free trial, or a first paid month, rolls automatically into recurring billing at its renewal date unless it's canceled first. The exact date of the next charge shows in your PlayStation Store subscription settings, or in your Rockstar Games Social Club account if that's where it was started, usually with an email reminder a few days ahead of time.

Canceling without losing time already paid for

Turning off auto-renewal doesn't cut your current access short: the subscription stays active through the period already paid for, it simply doesn't roll into the next one. That setting lives in your account's subscription page. Doing it the same day you sign up is the safest way to never forget.

GTA 6's online mode isn't there at launch

GTA Online, the multiplayer mode GTA+ perks apply to, is a GTA V feature today. GTA 6's own online mode isn't planned for the November 19, 2026 launch, with no availability date announced by Rockstar as of this writing. A GTA+ subscription taken out now changes nothing about single-player access to GTA 6, and its relevance to a future GTA 6 online mode stays, for the moment, hypothetical.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions: GTA+ and GTA 6

Will GTA 6 be included in GTA+?+

Rockstar hasn't announced this, and industry pattern goes against it: a major release doesn't usually enter a publisher subscription on its release day. Plan on buying the game.

What does GTA+ actually do today?+

The subscription covers perks tied to GTA Online, GTA V's multiplayer mode: bonus in-game cash, vehicles, and rotating content. It doesn't grant access to Rockstar's games themselves.

Will a PS Plus or Game Pass subscription unlock GTA 6?+

Nothing indicates that. Platform subscriptions are a separate question from GTA+, and neither has confirmed GTA 6 as of this writing.

Do I need a subscription to play GTA 6's single-player campaign?+

No. Solo play doesn't require an online subscription, on either PlayStation or Xbox.

Will I need a subscription for GTA 6's online mode?+

That question doesn't apply at launch: GTA 6's online mode isn't planned for November 19, 2026.

How do I avoid getting billed without meaning to?+

Any subscription started with a free trial renews automatically once it ends unless you cancel first. Turning off auto-renewal right when you sign up is the only reliable way to avoid it.

What does GTA 6 actually cost?+

$79.99 for the Standard edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate edition at publisher pricing. Digital key resellers sometimes list it lower.
