The story

A city built on lies

Los Angeles, 1947. Cole Phelps, a decorated war veteran turned detective, climbs the ranks of the LAPD from Traffic to Homicide. L.A. Noire blends case work, interrogations and a post-war reconstruction of L.A. with rare attention to period detail.

What you get

A full campaign built around individual cases, powered by MotionScan technology, which captures real actors' faces frame by frame. During interrogations, you read expressions to catch suspects lying. The 2017 remaster (PS4, Switch, Xbox One) includes all DLC cases.

Why play (or replay) it in 2026

It is a different kind of Rockstar game: a narrative detective thriller, not an action open world. The facial technology still holds up, and the remaster makes it available on every current platform.
