The story

The end of a world

1911. The Wild West is dying. John Marston, a former outlaw, is forced by the government to hunt down his old gang to buy his freedom and save his family. From New Austin to the mountains of Nuevo Paraiso, one of the finest stories Rockstar has ever told.

What you get

A twenty-hour solo campaign, dense and adult, that redefined the open-world genre. The recent ports (PS4 and Switch in 2023, PC in 2024) also include Undead Nightmare, the cult zombie survival expansion: a full standalone adventure in its own right.

Why play (or replay) it in 2026

Red Dead Redemption 2 is the prequel to this game: playing RDR means discovering the chronological sequel to Arthur Morgan's story and closing the loop. It is also a way to trace the open-world craft that Rockstar is now bringing to Vice City. And after years stuck on PS3 and Xbox 360, the game is finally accessible on modern hardware, often at a low price.

Waiting for GTA 6 has never felt this well filled.

What is the price of Red Dead Redemption? +
The 2023 port (PS4, Switch) and the 2024 PC version typically sell for 30 to 50 euros. The original Xbox 360 edition can be found cheaper in used condition. We show price ranges; the exact price appears at the retailer.
What is the difference between Red Dead Redemption and RDR2? +
RDR (2010) follows John Marston in 1911. RDR2 (2018) is its prequel, with Arthur Morgan in 1899. Chronologically, RDR takes place after RDR2: it is the end of the story.
Which platform should I buy it on in 2026? +
PS4 (playable on PS5 via backward compatibility), Nintendo Switch, and PC since October 2024. The Xbox 360 edition remains backward compatible with Xbox One and Series. There is no native PS5 or Xbox Series version.
