The scale, without the detail
For six days now (August 18 through 24, 2026), a single account known as Cyberleek, active on X and Reddit, has been posting content presented as GTA 6 footage, across several formats (images, video, audio). The wave has been cross-checked by roughly a dozen outlets, including Dexerto, Engadget, GameSpot, Kotaku, PC Gamer, and TheGamer.
That convergence of sources establishes a press fact: something is circulating, and it touches several parts of the game. It does not establish a game fact: what exactly that something represents, in what state, and whether it's final, nobody outside Rockstar Games can confirm.
What Rockstar says about it: officially, nothing
Rockstar Games hasn't issued any statement about this wave of leaks, not on its official Newswire, not on its X account. The studio has acted, though: DMCA takedowns target posts on X, Streamable, and Reddit within hours of each new Cyberleek post.
A DMCA takedown protects a rights holder's claim over content tied to its brand. It is not a confirmation of authenticity or finality, whatever some press headlines imply. Rockstar hasn't confirmed either one for anything circulating since August 18.
A word of caution
The account behind these posts has been soliciting cryptocurrency donations in exchange for promises of more leaks. Several outlets have flagged this as a likely scam. No content, leaked or otherwise, justifies sending funds to an anonymous account on a bare promise.

What follows is a day-by-day account of what the Cyberleek account posted and what press outlets reported about it. None of it is confirmed by Rockstar Games. The language below ("claims to show," "presented as") reflects that uncertainty deliberately, on every line.
| Aug 18 | The Cyberleek account claims to show two gameplay clips (a domestic scene attributed to Jason, a driving-and-fight sequence) plus an image presented as the full map of Leonida. | Unconfirmed by Rockstar, DMCA takedown within hours |
|---|---|---|
| Aug 18-19 | The map reportedly shows five counties and several named locations, in a size estimated at roughly 2.1 times GTA 5's map, per measurements cited by press. | Disputed: part of the fan-mapping community contests this map's accuracy. Nothing confirmed by Rockstar |
| Aug 19-20 | An additional cutscene and radio station audio clips circulate, presented as in-game content. | Unconfirmed |
| Aug 21 | A fictional vehicle from the franchise, presented as a Truffade Thrax hypercar, appears in the posts. | Unconfirmed |
| Aug 22 | Visuals presented as gas stations, a heist sequence, and a strip club exterior circulate. | Unconfirmed |
| Aug 23 | A "Wasted" screen, an appearance by the character Lucia, and a nighttime stunt-plane flight sequence are shown, per the same sources. | Unconfirmed |
| Aug 24 | Press outlets report additional content posted that day. This page doesn't reproduce the specifics: the confirmation level stays the same as previous days, meaning none. | Unconfirmed |
What press is inferring about the game
Based on these unofficial clips, several outlets (PC Gamer, Dexerto) float hypotheses about gameplay mechanics: a possible reputation or morality system, a stamina gauge, a loot system reminiscent of Red Dead Redemption 2, deeper character customization. These are journalists' readings of unofficial footage, not Rockstar Games announcements. None of these mechanics has been confirmed by the studio, either way.

For the Leonida that Rockstar has actually confirmed, the one built from official trailers, our Leonida guide remains the reference. It doesn't include anything from this leak wave, deliberately.
The real answer lands August 27
Rockstar is releasing Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on August 27, 2026 at 9 PM CEST, exclusively on Netflix, then on its own channels six hours later. That's the first source worth more than any leak. In the meantime, pre-ordering never depended on an anonymous X account: price and date have been set since June 25, 2026. See our page on the broadcast date.
